Two Faced
3"x 9"x 5"
Medium: Studio clay, underglaze, clear glaze and stain.
The message that I was trying to get across in my mask was that in today’s society we have unrealistic beauty standards. These standards cause a lot of harm to girls and boys across the world. Many people think that they need to look a certain way in order to be socially accepted. This should not be the case and people should not have to change their appearance based on what society tells them. My mask shows both sides because I did the normal proportions of a human face on one side, and on the other side I glazed and drew on what many women feel their face should look like.

King of the Jungle
2 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Medium: Studio clay, underglaze and clear glaze.
The goal of this piece was to create something out of repeating one shape. I chose to use triangles. As I was configuring the triangles, it began to look more and more like a lion. I decided to continue with the lion look by adding a face using black and brown underglaze. I used orange and yellow underglaze to create the ombre effect.

Vive España
8" x 6" x 7"
Medium: Studio clay, underglaze and clear glaze.
I chose Spain because last summer my family and I visited Spain and pottery was a huge form of artwork there. I saw pottery in almost every store I went into. My mom kept commenting on how much she loved the pottery so I wanted to make her something that I knew she would like.

Coco

This cup was designed for my mom. She loves hot chocolate and drinks it all the time. I wanted to make her a special cup to drink it out of. I made this cup on the wheel.

Twilight
4" x 2" x 3"
Medium: studio clay, underglaze and clear glaze.
This cup was my first successful piece on the wheel. Since this was a deconstructed cup, I decided to add stars as my negative space and a handle on top. After I designed the stars, I realized I wanted it to have a starry night look to it so I made my own underglaze to glaze on top to make the color midnight blue.
