I chose to do my final project on Jon Schmidt because I am a big fan of his artwork and youtube account. I chose to incorporate Jon's work by making functional pieces that all relate to Louisiana. I also pulled the handle for the mug which is the way Jon makes handles. Jon's most famous piece, the Minnesota mug, is what inspired me to make my project. I really liked how he makes the state the focal point by attaching an additional piece of clay. Therefore, I chose to do that same technique. I made this project for my brother because he just graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Each piece was made from terrecotta "red" clay.
